The three curricula
This site maps how core mathematics topics progress across three programmes taught side by side in international schools:
- IGCSE (Grade 9–10) — Cambridge or Edexcel International GCSE. Builds procedural fluency: direct calculation, standard techniques, and applying methods to set problem types.
- MYP (Grade 6–10) — the IB Middle Years Programme. Concept-based and criterion-referenced (Criteria A–D), it asks students to justify, model real contexts, and communicate reasoning, not just compute.
- DP Analysis & Approaches (Grade 11–12) — the IB Diploma Programme’s university-bound mathematics course (SL/HL), assessed against explicit objectives such as abstraction, interpretation, and computation, and built on the fluency and reasoning the first two programmes established.
Each lesson plan below shows the same underlying topic taught at all three stages, with an explicit note on how each level builds on the one before it.
